About the artist
Untitled
Evgeniy Pavlov, Volodymyr Shaposhnykov, and Tetiana Pavlova collaborated on three projects: Common Field (1996), Parnography (1998), and Second Sky (1999–2003). In these series, prints were hand-coloured, then photographically reproduced, and subsequently hand-coloured again. The dialogue with painting aimed to explore the fluidity of notions surrounding the boundaries of photography. As Evgeniy Pavlov comments, “I wanted to imbue photography with the visual opulence of painting by incorporating its symbolism. And what emerged from our collaboration does not fall outside the typology of photography.”
