Guennadi Maslov (b. 1959, Kharkiv) — Kharkiv photographer. After graduating from Kharkiv Electro-Technical College he studied at the Kharkiv State University (now the Karazin National University), obtaining a master’s degree in 1986. Having entered the local photography community in the late 1970s, a few years later he started to prove himself as a gifted artist, and became one of the founders of Kontakty (Contacts) group. Other members of the group included Misha Pedan, Igor Manko, Volodymyr Starko, Boris Redko, Leonid Pesin, and Sergey Bratkov, who joined later. Once or twice a week the group met in the photolaboratory at  the Construction Workers Palace of Culture, where Maslov was employed as a staff photographer in 1984-1986. A professional military interpreter, Maslov did his compulsory army service in Ethiopia as an officer of the country’s Southern Operational Command. Meanwhile in Kharkiv Kontakty was gradually transformed into Gosprom group and continued its active involvement in the city’s artistic life. On his return to Ukraine Maslov worked as a photography instructor at the Kharkiv State University. In summer of 1991 was a visiting professor at University of Cincinnati School of Art. In 1992-1993 headed the Kharkiv Children’s Photography Center.

In 1993 moved to Cincinnati, USA, where resides now. In 2017 received MFA in Visual Arts from the Lesley University, College of Art and Design, Cambridge, USA.
