Igor Chekachkov (b. 1989, Kharkiv) is a Ukrainian photographer and educator from Kharkiv. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and a master’s degree in Art History from Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. In 2022, he received a Chevening Scholarship to study in the MA program “Photography: The Image and Electronic Arts” at Goldsmiths, University of London. He lives and works in London.

He has been involved in photography since 2008, beginning as a photojournalist covering cultural, public, and sporting events before transitioning to fine art photography. From 2017 to 2022, he headed the Chekachkov Photo Academy at the COME IN Gallery, creating an important educational platform in the city. His work explores the boundaries between public and private spaces, as well as the impact of digital technologies and algorithms on imagery. Following the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, his practice has focused on themes of Ukrainian identity and the rethinking of the concept of home.

His work has been published in international media outlets such as Forbes, National Geographic, The Guardian, Le Monde, Der Spiegel, and The Economist. Chekachkov’s photographs have been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including Mystetskyi Arsenal, Ukrainian Museum, Odesa Photo Days, Photo Elysée, Fisheye Gallery, Open Eye Gallery, and Stills Gallery.
