Faces of War is a photo book by Alexander Chekmenev that documents the impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The publication consists of two parts. The first part features 24 portraits of citizens of Kyiv published in The New York Times Magazine at the beginning of the war in 2022. The second part of the book is composed of 53 portraits of soldiers, civilians, and medical personnel, who survived the occupation. Their stories are evidence of the war crimes committed by the Russian invaders against the civilians of Ukraine.
