About the artist

Blackout

Bella Logachova (born 1973, Mariupol) is a Ukrainian artist who works in the field of media art, using, among other mediums, video and photography. She graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts and completed an internship at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts. She participated in masterclasses by Boris Mikhailov and Sergiy Bratkov in 1997 and 2004.

She is the author of the name and co-founder of the group SOSka in 2005*. She participated in the exhibition activities of the contemporary art gallery-laboratory SOSka from 2005 to 2007. She co-founded the video community EXcess in 2009 and took part in the “Apartment Exhibitions Movement” from 2010 to 2014.

Logachova is a laureate of the V Non Stop Media Festival (2010) and the IX International Eco-Poster Triennial “4th Block” (2015). She developed a media art course at the Institute of Contemporary Art Problems of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2016–2017). Since 2017, she has been teaching photography and video art at the Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. In 2024, she defended her PhD thesis titled “Regional Identities of Ukrainian Video Art in Contemporary Art (late 20th – early 21st century).”
