Kharkiv School of Photography in the Centre Pompidou
Ukrainian art community received an important confirmation — a big selection of the contemporary Ukrainian artists is to be included into the permanent collection of the Centre Pompidou in Paris. This initiative, launched by the Ukrainian Club of Contemporary Art Collectors, has accumulated the contributions of the Grynov Collection, Evgeniy and Tetiana Pavlov, Zenko Aftanaziv, Leonid Komskyi, Semen Kantor, Yurii Kohutiak, Andrii Adamovskyi, Vadym Morokhovskyi, Yevhenii Demeniuk, Tetiana Osadcha and Volodymyr Shpilfohel.
MOKSOP also participated in shaping up the selection. The Grynov Collection and the Museum of Kharkiv School of Photography gifted over 130 prints by the representatives of the Kharkiv School of Photography. It included the works by Vikotr and Sergiy Kochtovs, Oleg Maliovany, Evgeniy Pavlov, Roman Pyatkovka, Jury Rupin, Sergiy Solonsky, Oleksandr Suprun and the Shilo group (Sergiy Lebedynskyy, Vladyslav Krasnoshchok, Vadym Trykoz). It’s an essential step towards mapping the Kharkiv photography in the international context and contribute to depper understanding of the importance of preserving and exploration of the Ukrainian photographic legacy. A large exhibition at the Centre Pompidou that will put the gifted works on the display is planned for 2022. We congratulate Kharkiv authors and grateful to everyone, who took part in the project.
